Sam Edelstein

Sam Edelstein, Assistant Director of Regional Programs and Engagement in the Office of Alumni Relations, Syracuse University

As the Assistant Director of Regional Programs and Engagement in the Office of Alumni Relations at Syracuse University, I am responsible for working closely with the Regional Advancement team to plan programs and events, and meet with alumni in some of the major alumni regions around the country. I also work across campus with the different schools and colleges, and collaborate with them to bring programs to alumni. As an 2007 Syracuse University alumnus, it is a thrill to work on campus and meet the many other alumni around the country who are succeeding in their careers and remain passionate about the university! Prior to working at Syracuse University I was the Communications Associate in New Media for Cultural Tourism DC, I managed the website, all social media platforms, and created a weekly newsletter that is sent to more than 25,000 subscribers. I was also responsible for building the organization's mobile presence, discovering creative ways to market the organization, and build partnerships with other organizations and companies. I also spent a year living in South Korea, teaching middle schoolers English as a second language. During that time, I got experience with classroom management and developing lesson plans. I was also able to meet many wonderful people and travel throughout the country, and through other parts of Asia. Prior to leaving the country, I worked as a Human Capital Consultant where I met and maintained relationships with clients, built business, worked on client sites, designed programs and surveys, wrote reports, and created deliverables that were well received. I also managed the budget on a project with one federal agency. When I'm not at work, I like spending my free time exploring the outdoors, hanging out with my dog, reading an engaging book, or getting involved in different volunteer opportunities.
